Clubs & Activities
Beyond the classroom, extracurricular clubs and activities abound at Shady Side, allowing students at every division to explore new interests, meet new friends and take on leadership roles. Many of the clubs and activities in the upper grade levels are student-driven.
Country Day School students can participate in a variety of enrichment classes and service activities through the school's all-inclusive After School Adventurers program.
Junior School students can explore a wide variety of interests through the all-inclusive After School Explorers program, which offers everything from sports lessons to art classes to a robotics club to working on the school yearbook. The school also sponsors a cross country team and a Girls on the Run team that meet after school.
Middle School students can join a number of extracurricular clubs and teams including Science and Math Olympiad, literary magazine, robotics, philosophy club and rocketry. Students in all grades are encouraged to join at least one school committee, including community service, recycling, dances, athletic assistants, library/book club, Black History Month and more.
Senior School students have the opportunity to join or lead more than 50 student clubs – or start their own! Most clubs are student-driven with guidance from a faculty advisor. From Yearbook to Model UN to Speech & Debate to Science Olympiad to Service Learning, there's something for everyone!
