Weather & Emergency Notifications

Now that winter is upon us, here are some key reminders about weather delays and closings:

  • Every effort is made to announce delays or closures by 6 a.m.
  • No announcement is made if SSA is opening on a normal schedule.
  • Delay/closure alerts are automatically sent to parents, students and faculty/staff via School Messenger using contact information in Veracross: phone call to Home and Mobile Phones; text alert to Mobile Phone; email to Primary Email.
  • If you do not want to receive certain alerts, you can manage your School Messenger communication preferences.
  • To update your family's contact information, log in to the Veracross Parent Portal and click the Household Profile Update button.
  • Delays/closings are also posted on the SSA website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, KDKA, WTAEWPXI, and SSA weather hotline (412-447-2202).
  • Public school district buses follows the schedule of their district, not of SSA.
  • Visit the Weather & Emergency Notifications page for more information.
Stay Up to Date With COVID-19 Vaccines

Updated (bivalent) COVID-19 boosters, approved for ages 6 months and up, are formulated to protect against more recent variants and are critical to providing ongoing protection as immunity wanes and the virus mutates. SSA strongly encourages families to follow CDC recommendations to stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines. Please upload a copy of your child's updated COVID-19 vaccination card to Magnus Health whenever they receive an additional vaccine.  Learn about vaccine and booster recommendations here and visit vaccines.gov to find a provider.
