Shady Side Academy faculty emeritus Bill "Mac" McConnel was inducted to the Choate Rosemary Hall Athletics Hall of Fame during a reception on Friday, May 14, as part of the school's Reunion Weekend festivities.

McConnel led the Choate track team as co-captain to undefeated seasons in 1954 and 1955. He graduated from Choate in 1955.

At Shady Side Academy Senior School, McConnel taught French and had a renowned cross country and track coaching career for 41 years (1967-2008), leading his teams to multiple IPSL and WPIAL championships. He was named faculty emeritus in 2009.
