Eight more Shady Side Academy seniors signed letters committing to college athletics programs in six different sports on Wednesday, March 10, 2021. The signing ceremony and celebration was held outdoors at Michael J. Farrell Stadium entrance plaza. The signees, who were joined by their coaches, college counselors, families and friends, included:
- Emory Anderson - Soccer, University of St. Andrews (Scotland)
- Joshua Castro - Football, Muhlenberg College (NCAA Division III)
- Bruce David - Soccer, Bates College (NCAA Division III)
- Colin Gramley – Tennis, Denison University (NCAA Division III)
- Ryan McLaughlin – Golf, St. Lawrence University (NCAA Division III)
- Liam Mendham – Football, Allegheny College (NCAA Division III)
- Aubrey Suttelle - Ice Hockey, St. Lawrence University (NCAA Division I)
- Jack Todd - Lacrosse, Washington and Lee University (NCAA Division III)
Anderson played defense and midfield for the SSA girls' soccer team, earning All-WPIAL honors as a junior and senior and helping SSA to a PIAA title in 2017 and a WPIAL title in 2019. She distinguished herself by playing five sports in a school year, including being the first female to play football at SSA (as a kicker) and competing in swimming, lacrosse and track & field.
Castro, who transferred to SSA as a junior in 2019 from a school in Germany, started at quarterback and punter for the SSA football team, earning first-team all-conference honors at both positions as a senior in 2020.
David played goalkeeper for the SSA boys soccer team, helping Shady Side to back-to-back WPIAL titles in 2017 and 2018 and earning honorable mention all-section honors in 2020.
Gramley enters his final season with the SSA boys tennis team as the No. 1 singles player. In 2018 and 2019, he and Naman Dua '19 won the WPIAL doubles title and were runners-up for the PIAA doubles title. He also qualified for the WPIAL singles tournament in 2019.
McLaughlin helped the SSA boys golf team to four straight section titles and a top four finish in the WPIAL Team Championship in each of his four years. He also played basketball and baseball at SSA.
Mendham transferred to SSA as a sophomore and was the starting placekicker for the SSA football team, earning second-team all-conference honors as a senior in 2020. He also played lacrosse at SSA.
Suttelle plays defense for the SSA girls' ice hockey team as well as for the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite 19U club team. She helped SSA to a WIHLMA championship as a sophomore in 2019.
Todd is entering his final season as a starting midfielder for the SSA boys lacrosse team after battling through injury last year. He also plays for the Dukes Elite 2021 Lacrosse Club.
