Build the Bulldog

Help Us Create a 3D-Printed SSA Bulldog Statue!

In honor of Bulldog Day, we’re launching Build the Bulldog, an initiative to create a collaborative, crowdsourced, 3D-printed statue of the Shady Side Academy bulldog! The statue will stand more than 4 feet tall and consist of 530 blue and gold pieces that have been 3D printed or sponsored by community members and makers around the world. The finished bulldog will stand guard on the porch of the Glimcher Tech & Design Hub, greeting visitors to the Senior School as they drive on to campus. We hope to unveil the 3D bulldog statue in the spring of 2023.

Get Your Piece of the Bulldog!

There are two ways you can help us Build the Bulldog:

Don't miss your chance to be part of this one-of-a-kind project!

1. 3D Print a Blue Piece

Have access to a 3D printer? Complete the form below and you’ll receive an .stl file of your assigned piece to print in navy blue filament. Then 3D print your piece and ship it to us. If you don’t have navy blue filament, print the piece in any color and we’ll paint it navy blue when we receive it!

2. Make a Gift of Support to Engrave a Gold Piece

Want to support the Build the Bulldog project, Glimcher Tech & Design Hub and SSA? Use the form below to make a new gift of $1,883 or more to the Blue & Gold Fund (SSA's annual fund), and in recognition of your gift, SSA will 3D print a metallic gold piece engraved with your custom text. The piece will be in a visible location on the bulldog, and your gift will count toward the Blue & Gold Fund's annual goal. Upon receipt of your gift, a member of the SSA Alumni & Development Office will contact you about the custom engraving.
