Country Day School Food Drive Benefits Pressly Ridge Backpack Giveback Program Students and families donated non-perishable food items to benefit the Pressley Ridge Backpack Giveback program. The Junior School Giving Tree Project Families purchased items on the foundation's Amazon Wish List to be delivered directly to The Children's Home of Pittsburgh & Lemieux Family Center. Country Day School Students Celebrate Computer Science Education Week Students in grades JPK-1 worked with Educational Technology Collaborator Kate Weber to complete hands-on, foundational activities to celebrate Computer Science Education Week in December 2021. Senior School Service Learning Club Virtual Drive Raises $2,500 for Food Bank The $2,557.02 raised through the drive will help the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank provide more than 12,000 meals to neighbors in need. In Memoriam: Faculty Emeritus William Diehl Diehl, a respected and beloved science teacher at the Senior School from 1971 to 2011, passed away in December 2021 at the age of 77. Sixth Graders Raise $1,875 for Water for South Sudan Students participated in the annual walkathon after reading the book "A Long Walk to Water" by Linda Sue Park. Fourteen Seniors Honored With Fides Awards An annual Senior School tradition, Fides Awards honor seniors who are unsung heroes of the school community. Junior School Third Grade Play It Forward Toy Drive Fills Two Buses On Dec. 16, third graders delivered donations and volunteered with Play It Forward Pittsburgh at the Convention Center. Junior School K-5 Students Participate in Hour of Code Students in grades K-5 had fun doing coding tutorials and games with computer teacher Karen Sandora as part of Computer Science Education Week. Sophomores Named to PMEA District 1 Honors Jazz Festival Otis Liu (alto sax) and Hari Viswanthan (piano) will perform in the festival at Seton Hill University on Feb. 4-5, 2022.
