Vaccination Status Updates in Magnus Health If your child has recently become fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (two weeks past the second shot), please update their Magnus Health record by the end of Winter Break. Log in to the Veracross Parent Portal, click the gold Magnus Health button, and go to the child's Student Health Tracker. Click to edit the COVID-19 vaccination question, then answer Yes and upload a photo or PDF of the child's vaccination card. Admissions and Financial Aid Reminders
Please note the deadline for PK/K admission is Jan. 3, 2022, and the deadline for grades 1-12 is Jan. 31, 2022. The financial aid deadline for both new and returning families is Jan. 3, 2022. If you know anyone who might be interested in SSA, please encourage them to reach out to the campus director of admission, create an account in Veracross, and sign up for a campus visit or Zoom information session. Winterfest Tonight
On Thursday, Dec. 16, at 6:30 p.m., the community will gather at the Senior School to celebrate the winter season. Please park in the Hillman Center lot. A sing along will kick off the event, followed by various stations around campus, including a family photo booth, dance party and hot cocoa by the fire. Don't forget to bring a lantern, flashlight, glow stick or LED candle to the event - so that we can all let our lights shine bright! See the Dec. 15 email from Dr. Asmonga for full details. Back Pack Give Back Program
CDS is partnering with Pressley Ridge for a second year, collecting non-perishable food items that are provided to students and their families who may be struggling to find their next meal. Please see the flyer for more information and the list of items being collected. Parent Volunteer Opportunity The CDS Parents Association is in the process of organizing an Academy-wide sledding day to take place in early 2022. We are looking for 3-4 volunteers to form a committee tasked with helping to plan the event. If you are interested in volunteering, please email Amelia Grubman. Lost & Found The Lost & Found, located under the stairs in the lobby by the office, is full of items that need claimed. Also, please remember to write your child's name on clothing so that it can be easily returned. Birthday Treats If you are sending in a birthday treat, please be sure to contact your child's homeroom teacher and school nurse Kelly Sample so that any allergy information can be considered. The Giving Tree For more than 25 years, the Junior School has had the tradition of participating in the Annual Giving Tree. This year, the Giving Tree will be giving gifts to the Children's Home of Pittsburgh. Due to COVID-19, the "wish list" of items is available on Amazon. If you are interested in purchasing items, please view the wish list. Lost & Found The Lost & Found, located in the wing hall, is full of items that need claimed. Also, please remember to write your child's name on clothing so that it can be easily returned. Parent Book Club The Junior School Parent Book Club meets monthly via Zoom to discuss fun fiction and engaging stories. Books are selected by the group based on shared interests. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Rachel Kutz-Flamenbaum. This Friday, Dec. 17, will be a dress down day with a donation to the sixth grade Long Walk to Water Project. The suggested donation is $2-$5. Parent Walking Group Anyone interested in joining the Middle School Parent Walking Group is invited to show up Tuesdays at 9 a.m., on the Senior School track. All abilities and fitness levels are welcome. Contact Margo Litwin with questions. Formal Dress Clothing Swap Families are encouraged to stop by the Middle School to pick up a blue blazer and a white button-down shirt or drop off formal dress clothing items that no longer fit. | Virtual Food Drive, Dec. 9-18 The Service Learning Club is sponsoring a Virtual Food Drive from Dec 9-18. For each dollar donated, the Food Bank can provide up to five meals for those who are food insecure in our greater Pittsburgh community. Please help us reach our goal of $2,500 by donating today! Snowball Dance, Jan. 29 The Snowball Dance will be Saturday, Jan. 29, from 6-10 p.m., at The Pittsburgh Field Club. Come with a date or a group a friends to enjoy an evening of dining and dancing. Dress is semi-formal. Ticket purchasing information coming soon. Yearbook Senior Quotes Due Feb. 1 Parents are invited to review quotes with their seniors. Quotes are a unique opportunity for seniors to thank those who impacted their lives, share insights/memories and leave a legacy. Quotes should be less than 200 words, written in full sentences with no abbreviations and with proper punctuation. No references to drugs, alcohol, cheating, threats or inappropriate behavior.
