Recaps & Good News Oct. 8, 2020
Dear Shady Side Community,
Although we will not host a traditional Homecoming this month as originally scheduled over a year ago, our students' esprit de corps and pride in SSA remains strong! It's Spirit Week, and students across the Academy are abandoning the dress code to don superhero costumes, silly socks and team jerseys. Today, Senior School students are wearing clothes representing various decades. So far, I have seen hoop skirts, bell bottoms, tye dye, neon tracksuits, retro Air Jordans, and, to the delight of this 1990s teenageer, an ample array of Pearl Jam and Nirvana T-shirts. Quite a path down memory lane for the faculty and staff! And we are not finished yet. Spirit Week culminates tomorrow with Blue & Gold Day, when it's all about SSA! Given the range of national and global crises our students are processing and responding to at the moment, it has been so gratifying to see them happy and having so much fun being together, showing their love for Shady Side and one another.
Thanks to everyone at SSA for contributing to our sense of community spirit. We have never needed it more!
Glory to Shady Side!
