President Bart Griffith '93 Hosts First Virtual Alumni Event The Alumni & Development Office held its first virtual alumni event with President Bart Griffith '93 on Tuesday, May 12. Griffith shared his observations about his first year as president, discussed the Academy's COVID-19 response and recognized the exceptional efforts of the faculty and staff. Shady Side's faculty inspire thought, action and leadership in service to others. On Tuesday, May 5, the Shady Side Academy community joined #GivingTuesdayNow, a national day of giving, to help us continue Shady Side Academy's tradition of gratitude to our teachers. We raised more than $31,000 from 48 donors in honor of our amazing teachers and coaches! Effort to Honor Retiring Art Teacher Scott Aiken '79
A group of SSA trustees and donors is leading a fundraising initiative to honor Senior School art teacher Scott Aiken '79, who is retiring after 33 years at SSA. The funds will be used for a naming opportunity honoring Aiken in the Benedum Visual Arts Center. A total of $50,000 has been raised to date. Join the effort by making a gift to the Blue & Gold Fund, choosing Tribute Gift and entering "Scott Aiken" in the comment box.
