Dear Shady Side Families,
As many of you are aware, we announced last Thursday and Friday the cancellation of all in-person SSA Summer camps and classes, and the end of the Fox Chapel Farmers Market after nine great summer seasons at Shady Side.
While the decision to cancel these wonderful programs was difficult, it was made out of concern for the safety and health of our community and based on the guidance of state and local authorities and health organizations. We also recognized the need to dedicate our full energy and focus this summer to preparing for a successful reopening of school, no matter what the fall may bring. As you might imagine, this is an intensive and multifaceted process that will require broad collaboration across the Academy's entire administration, faculty and staff.
Our executive leadership team has spent the past month actively planning for a range of options for the 2020-2021 school year that align with the reopening phases of Governor Wolf's Plan for Pennsylvania. Later this week, I will offer the community an initial view of some possible scenarios for next year.
I look forward to sharing our planning framework with all of you and to our continued partnership as we navigate these uncharted waters together.
Best,
Bart Griffith '93
