It is such an exciting time at the Academy, and 2020 has begun apace. At the Senior School, winter sports teams are readying for a successful close to their seasons – and the Senior School musical, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, premieres this weekend at the Hillman Center for Performing Arts.

Middle and Senior School Science Olympiad Teams Compete at Solon Invitational The MS team placed third out of 45 teams and the SS team placed tenth out of 75 teams in their respective divisions. Seven Seniors Sign With College Athletics Programs Student-athletes in field hockey, football, ice hockey, lacrosse and tennis committed to NCAA college programs on National Signing Day. SSA Offers Spring Training Baseball Clinic for Kids The clinic will be held Feb. 28-29 and March 6-7, and led by former MLB players and SSA varsity coaches Jordan Steranka and Chris Peters. Entrepreneur Jon Halpern '10 Speaks to Senior School Students Alumnus spoke to the student body at an assembly about his career as an entrepreneur and also visited an economics class. Sophomore Selected to PMEA District 1 Orchestra Festival Cellist Daniel Lee performed at the PMEA District 1 Orchestra Festival at Chartiers Valley Senior High School on Saturday, Feb. 1. Flag Created by Country Day School Pre-K Students Flies in Antarctica Students created a flag and sent it to a researcher from Penguin Science to fly in Antarctica. HIllman Series Presents Tami Lee Hughes: The Legacy Show, Feb. 15 Concert violinist Tami lee Hughes shares her multimedia celebration of African American music, history and culture. Buy tickets today at thehillman.org. Shady Side Academy Squash Saturday Under 15 Tournament, Feb. 22 The tournament is open to boys and girls under age 15 from any school, of all ability levels. Senior Receives Rotary Club Student of Distinction Award Alison Linares Mendoza was honored for contributing to her community in ways that reflect the club motto of "Service Above Self."
Senior School Students Teach Country Day SPK Students About Chinese New Year SPK students learned about Chinese New Year traditions, learned to write Chinese characters and made lanterns together with three Chinese-American Senior School students.
