Architecture Students Design Shed for SSA Farm The students of Mrs. Batchelar’s architecture class are working at the request of the SSA Farm to design a shed. The vision is to create a space to store tools and equipment as well as space to work indoors. Students designed and produced the plans for the structure , which includes a porch and 20 X 22 work area with a counter where lights could be hung for starter plants and a loft storage space. Many “green” elements have been integrated into the project, including sky lights, natural lighting, a cupola for air flow and a rain barrel integrated into the gutters. The porch would accommodate on-site educational presentations and provide a shady respite while gardening. The Farm Shed Project was integrated into the course curriculum and the students’ newly developed architectural skills were applied to the project. They are excited to leave a legacy at SSA by designing a structure on the campus.
