Shady Side Academy Senior School will present Alice In Wonderland – A Radio Play as its fall student drama production on Nov. 6-8, 2020. Three performances will be livestreamed on Friday, Nov. 6, at 7:30 p.m., Saturday Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 8, at 2 p.m.

The livestream is free of charge, but donations will be accepted online to help offset production costs. The livestream and donation links will be available soon atzwww.shadysideacademy.org/theater.

Shady Side Academy's production of Alice in Wonderland – A Radio Play is based on a 1937 radio broadcast of the 1865 novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll (the pseudonym of English author Charles Dodgson). It tells the story of a young girl named Alice who falls through a rabbit hole into a subterranean fantasy world populated by peculiar, anthropomorphic creatures. It is considered to be one of the best examples of the literary nonsense genre. The tale plays with logic, giving the story lasting popularity with adults as well as with children.

The cast and crew consist of nearly 30 students ranging from seniors to freshmen, including: junior Ava Kronman as Alice, senior Jake Rohr as The Mock Turtle, senior Charlotte McDaniel as The Caterpillar/The Gryphon, senior Mark Fire as The King of Hearts senior Annabel Everett as Alice's sister, senior Nathan Jyachosky as The Cheshire Cat, junior Hector Lampert-Bates as The March Hare, and junior Riley Doyle as The White Rabbit.

Faculty member Dana Hardy-Bingham is the director, and staff member Austin Davidheiser is the technical director. Senior Hannah Romoff is the stage manager/assistant director, senior Katie Sparvero is the dramaturge and Peter Brucker is the music/sound designer.

The play will be performed on stage in the Richard E. Rauh Theater of the school's Hillman Center for Performing Arts, but with social distancing between masked actors and without an in-person audience, due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols.
