Shady Side Academy senior Sanjna Narayan and juniors Emory Anderson, Qingqing Zhao and Raymond Zheng were among the "Elite 100" area high school students honored by Trib Total Media's 2020 Outstanding Young Citizen (OYC) awards program. The Elite 100 students are typically recognized in person at an awards banquet each spring; however, this year's OYC banquet had to be canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Trib Total Media Outstanding Young Citizen program is an annual awards program that has recognized the achievements of students in Western Pennsylvania for more than 25 years. Family, friends, teachers or school officials nominate high school juniors and seniors based on their exemplary character, academic achievements, leadership and community service. An independent panel of judges selects the Elite Top 100 students to be named Outstanding Young Citizens, and the top 10 students in that group are named Gold Medalists. One boy and one girl among the Gold Medalists are selected to win a $5,000 scholarship

Congratulations, Sanjna, Emory, Sanjna, Qingqing and Raymond!
