Jonathan Halpern '10 Wins Pittsburgh Business Times 30 Under 30 Award

Shady Side Academy alum Jonathan HalpernShady Side Academy alumnus Jonathan Halpern '10 was among 30 individuals who were honored with a Pittsburgh Business Times 30 Under 30 Award for 2019. The honor designates people who exemplify the creativity, passion and perseverance that have come to characterize western Pennsylvania's new economy.

Halpern is the co-founder of Pineapple Payments, a fast-growing fintech startup that he founded in 2016 with partner Brian Shanahan. His first business, AthleteTrax, a payments-focused software platform serving sports facilities, leagues, teams and camps, was purchased by Pineapple Payments in 2018.

Prior to AthleTrax, he led George Washington University's on-campus, in-room safe program for SafePlace-USA. He spent two summers at Innovation Works, working on the company's energy team and then directly for the chief investment officer.
