The SSA crew team works with a wide range of athletes - from those that have never rowed before to those that are competing at the national level and preparing to row at the Division 1 level in college. The team rows out of the Steel City Rowing Club boathouse in Verona.
Sarah Humphrey was born in Pittsburgh and attended The Ellis and Winchester-Thurston Schools. She began rowing the summer before her 9th grade year and went on to be recruited by Syracuse University, where she continued to row, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2006. She completed her Master's degree in the History of Art, Architecture, and Archaeology at New York University in 2009. She joined the Steel City staff in October of 2017 as a juniors coach and Program Manager. She has nearly two decades of experience in the arts and education, at both the institutional level and in the private sector, and is a USRowing Certified Level II Rowing Coach. She is also an avid runner and general audiophile.
Andrew started rowing for Fox Chapel High School, and came to Steel City Rowing Club in his senior year. He went on to be on Yale University Lightweight men’s crew team. While at Yale, Andrew acquired a bachelors in economics. He has been coaching at Steel City since June 2015, and is a USRowing Certified Level 2 Coach.
