Gus Succop ’71 has published his new children’s book, Merry Thank You Christmas. In the book, Succop, a retired pastor, invites young readers and their families to rediscover the true spirit of Christmas. Through the story of Charlie, a boy eagerly awaiting Christmas Day, Succop shares a heartfelt message about gratitude, family, and the birth of Christ. Inspired by a memorable children’s sermon where he realized many kids didn’t connect Christmas with Christ’s birth, Succop created a tale that emphasizes the importance of saying “thank you” and celebrating the deeper meaning of the holiday. Merry Thank You Christmas is available on Amazon, BarnesandNoble.com, and other major retailers.

She's a 'woman on Broadway to watch,' according to the Broadway Women's Fund, and Perelman's other producing credits include 'JOB,' 'Romeo + Juliet,' and Alex Edelman's 'Just for Us.' Perelman conducts her production work through her own company and also as an associate producer with EGOT-winners Pasek & Paul. Samuel R. Succop ’67 passed away July 21, 2024. Sam, 75, was a native of Pittsburgh, PA, and passed away peacefully on July 21, 2024 in Asheville, NC, with family by his side. The son of the late John C. and Jean Succop (née Eddy), he was born on April 10, 1949 in Pittsburgh, PA. Sam grew up in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood, attended Shady Side Academy, and graduated from The Kiski School. Sam served in the Navy and achieved a degree from Carnegie Mellon University in 1976. Upon moving to Atlanta, GA, he forged a career as an HVAC technical engineer which afforded him the opportunity to travel extensively in the US and Caribbean. In 2010, he relocated to Asheville, NC to pursue semi-retirement. Sam was a third-generation Chautauquan, and his time at the Chautauqua Institution had a life-long impact. There, he discovered his passion for sailing, which he pursued for decades, in the form of racing in local regattas at the Lake Lanier Sailing Club and later working committee for the same, and joining multi-day races on the open ocean. The friends, values, and relationships he found in Chautauqua always held a very special place in his heart of hearts. He loved music, and was also fascinated by the way radios and stereo equipment worked, often found with his hands inside a subwoofer. He was an avid and creative ‘tinkerer’ and loved a good project, whether automotive, electronic, or related to home renovation. He loved travel, adventure, and driving, and especially valued time with family and long-time friends. Sam is survived by his three children, five grandchildren, adoring siblings, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom miss him madly. Condolences, messages, and inquiries can be sent to samsailzon@gmail.com.
