Seven Shady Side Academy Senior School students traveled to Anaheim, California to compete against 27,000 other students from all over the world at the DECA International Career Development Conference.
To compete at the international level, students first needed to qualify at the State competition, where they competed against students from across Pennsylvania for the coveted top four positions in their specific topic.
The following students qualified in their respective events to travel to the international conference:
- Senior Sara L. and Freshman Ellie L. in the Integrated Marketing Campaign (Event) Competition
- Sophomores Kiran T., Rohan K., and Laurence P. in the Start-Up Business Plan Competition
- Freshmen Alex C. and Caden Z. in the Innovation Plan Competition
First-time DECA members Kiran, Rohan, and Laurence walked away with finalist medals. Sara and Ellie took third place in their category and were two of only six students from Pennsylvania to place in over 50 competitive events.
“All of our students represented Shady Side Academy and Pennsylvania with grace, dignity, and professionalism. I’m extremely proud of their effort and accomplishments,” said DECA Advisor and Director of the Glimcher Tech & Design Hub Jesse Robinson.
