The Shady Side Academy News, the Senior School's student newspaper since 1895, made history this spring by publishing its first-ever digital-only edition. Despite SSA's campuses being closed, the paper's editorial team has continued meeting and working remotely, putting together a special COVID-19-themed PDF issue filled with stories about how the pandemic and distance learning are impacting the school and its students.
In a letter published in the issue, the editors said "We value the experience of holding a paper copy in one's hands, an experience that is becoming more and more rare in the world of online news ... However, we are still committed to bringing the SSA Newspaper to students, faculty, parents, and alumni even during these trying times, so we have made the decision to temporarily go online."
Congratulations to the editorial team of juniors Gabi Jegasothy, Julia Roupe, Gabbie Bernier and Paige Shea, and the paper's faculty advisor, Linda McDonald, on a great issue!
