Squash Teams Compete in U.S. High School Championships; Girls Finish in Third Place

The Shady Side Academy boys and girls squash teams competed in the 2022 U.S. High School Team Squash Championships, held Feb. 25-27, in Philadelphia, with the girls' team earning a third place national finish!

The girls' team played in the Division V bracket and was seeded No. 12 out of 14 teams. The Bulldogs pulled off two upsets, defeating No. 5 Nardin Academy, 7-0, in the first round on Friday and No. 4 Squashbusters, 5-2, in the quarterfinals on Saturday morning. The Bulldogs fell to No. 1 seed The Hill School, 5-2, in the semifinals Saturday afternoon, but defeated No. 2 Shipley, 6-1, to finish third overall at nationals.

The boys' team played in the Division IV bracket and was seeded No. 12 out of 16 teams. The Bulldogs fell to No. 5 Woodberry Forest, 4-3, in the first round on Friday to move to the consolation bracket, where they defeated No. 13 Squashbusters, 4-3, on Saturday morning and lost to No. 9 Salisbury, 4-3, on Saturday afternoon. The boys wrapped up nationals with a 4-3 loss to No. 14 St. Luke's on Sunday.
