Senior School Teacher a Finalist for PTC Innovation in Education Award

Shady Side Academy Senior School faculty member and Director of the Glimcher Tech & Design Hub Jesse Robinson was a finalist in the educator category of the 2023 Innovation in Education Awards, given by the Pittsburgh Technology Council (PTC). The finalists were recognized and winners were announced at the Three Rivers Educational Technology Conference (TRETC) Innovation in Education Award & Networking Event on Sunday, Jan. 15, at Gecko Robotics.

The Innovation in Education Awards recognize educators, leaders, students and community members for excellence in technology education. A TRETC committee reviews nominations and selects the finalists and a winner in each category.

Robinson's nomination read in part: "Mr. Robinson has a 'Heck Yes' attitude. He approaches his students and coworkers with a willingness to help problem solve and accomplish goals no matter how big or small ... His encouragement to students is heartfelt and he infuses positive self-esteem for students who find their home in the tech space."

"What an honor to nominated for an Innovation in Education Award at TRETC 2023," said Robinson. "A huge thank you for the recognition to the Pittsburgh Technology Council and a heartfelt congratulations to Dana Navaroli of Pittsburgh Science and Technology Academy for winning!"

The day after the awards ceremony, Robinson attended the full-day TRETC conference at South Fayette High School, which featured more than 30 workshops and teacher-led presentations with the theme Building the Future.

Congratulations, Mr. Robinson!
