Moved by Melodies and Mastery

In the world of melodious achievements, three of Shady Side Academy's dedicated band students have shone brightly this fall in the fiercely competitive PMEA Band competitions. Jeffrey Brunner (grade 11), Samraj Delfyett (grade 10), and Otis Liu (grade 12) showcased their musical prowess among peers from 106 schools across Western Pennsylvania, earning coveted spots in three prestigious honors bands.

Otis Liu earned a place in the PMEA Honors Band, with the festival set to take place at North Hills High School from November 17-19. Demonstrating versatility and excellence, Otis Liu, along with Samraj Delfyett, were both selected for the PMEA District 1 Honors Jazz Band. They will perform at the festival scheduled for December 8 and 9 at Moon Area High School. In a display of consistent musical aptitude, Otis Liu and Jeffrey Brunner secured their positions in the PMEA District 1 Concert Band West. Latrobe High School will host this event from January 11-13.

These selections are not merely accolades but reflect the dedication and talent within our academy's band program. The students' success is a testament to their hard work and the robust music education they receive, paving the way for their bright futures in music.
