Shady Side Academy Middle School staged two performances of the winter musical Mary Poppins JR. for students, families and guests on Thursday, Feb. 24.

Nineteen students in grades 6-8 appeared in the cast of Mary Poppins Jr., with lead roles going to Özge Uzman (grade 7) as Mary Poppins; Harry McElhattan (grade 8) as Bert, Charlotte Barker (grade 7) as Jane Banks, Noah Thompson-Jones (grade 7) as Michael Banks, Sam Davidheiser (grade 8) as George Banks, Eva Friedlander (grade 7) as Winifred Banks, Avani Agrawal (grade 8) as Mrs. Brill and Eshaan Goulatia (grade 6) as Robertson Ay. Featured and ensemble roles included Caroline Ray (grade 8) as Katie Nanna, Ellie Laman (grade 7) as Neleus, Ava Jochims(grade 7) as Bird Woman, Uma Pathe (grade 6) as Miss Smythe, Pilar Placci (grade 6) as Chairman, Quinton Kokladas (grade 8) as Von Hussler, Allen Hoe (grade 6) as John Northbrook and Policeman, Emily Lin (grade 6) as Mrs. Corry, Kristen Appleman (grade 7) as Miss Andrew, Amari Pamplin (grade 7) as Clerk, and Violet McGuigan (grade 6) as Honeybee.

The musical was directed by Middle School music teachers Jeff Gross and Randal Broker, with set design and costumes by art teachers Stephanie Vorrasi and Natalie Potts.
