Joel Rubin '89 to Head American Jewish Congress
Democratic strategist Joel Rubin '89, who served as director of Jewish outreach for Sen. Bernie Sanders's 2020 presidential campaign, was announced as the executive director of the American Jewish Congress on Tuesday, Oct. 13. The American Jewish Congress is an association of American Jews organized to defend Jewish interests at home and abroad through public policy advocacy, using diplomacy, legislation and the courts.
Rubin is currently the vice mayor of Chevy Chase, Md., previously served as the U.S. State Department's chief liaison to the House of Representatives and was a career officer in the state's Bureau of Political-Military affairs and Near-Eastern Affairs during the George W. Bush administration.
