Shady Side Academy alumna Jatara McGee '11, an investigative reporter for WLWT-TV in Cincinnati, spoke to juniors in Dan Coyne's U.S. History classes via Zoom on Thursday, April 27. McGee discussed the task of vetting sources for her stories and gave the students some advice and a pep talk for the big U.S. History research papers they are working on in term 3. 

McGee graduated from the University of Maryland with a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism in 2015. She spent three years as a multimedia journalist at WSAZ-TV in Charleston, W.Va., before joining WLWT in Cincinnati in 2018. There she worked as a reporter on the night beat for two years before being promoted to investigative reporter and fill-in anchor in 2021.
