Four Shady Side Academy girls lacrosse players will represent the Pittsburgh region on the US Lacrosse National Team. The team of 22 players includes SSA junior Riley DiFiore, sophomores Emmie Lau and Abby Todd, and freshman Coco Redican.
The US Lacrosse National Tournament will be held May 27-28, 2017, at Yale University in New Haven, Conn. This marks the third time that Shady Side players will play in the tournament; the first was in 2011. The tournament features approximately 70 regional teams from across the country competing in seven divisions.
The Women's Division National Tournament began in 1933 to showcase the best post-collegiate and club women's lacrosse players. Since that time, it has grown into one of the largest and most renowned women's lacrosse events in the nation. This event attracts over 1,500 of the best competitors nationwide from every realm of women's lacrosse as well as more than 2,500 spectators.
Congratulations to Riley, Emmie, Abby and Coco, and to their coach, Brooke Kerschbaumer '91.
