Eighth Grader Leads Middle School Fundraiser for Earthquake Victims
A bake sale at the Middle School spearheaded by eighth grader Özge Uzman and supported by the Community Service Committee raised $1,000 for victims of the recent earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.
Uzman organized the two-day bake sale on March 2-3, raising $866.80, which was then rounded up to $1,000 through a family's donation. The money has been donated to the Turkish Philanthropy Funds Türkiye Earthquake Relief Fund, and thanks to a matching gift program, the ultimate impact of the fundraiser will be $2,000.
Congratulations to Özge, the Community Service Committee and faculty advisors Kelli Wood and Lauren Messner on a successful fundraiser. Thank you to the Middle School families who generously supported this important cause!
