On Thursday, May 2, Country Day School Second, Third, Fourth, and Fifth Graders took a field trip to the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (PSO) to attend their Schooltime Concert Series called “Meet the Orchestra.”
Led by PSO Associate Conductor Moon Doh, “Meet the Orchestra” offers students an inside look into how each instrument family creates its unique sound, how those sounds work together in an orchestra, and what role the conductor plays in bringing orchestral music to life.
Witnessing the orchestra in action also allowed students to see firsthand the principles of teamwork, cooperation, and discipline that are essential not only in music but in various aspects of life. Moreover, by experiencing live music performances, CDS students developed a deeper appreciation for the arts and cultivated their own creativity.
