Boys Lacrosse is WPIAL Runner-Up, Advances to PIAAs

Shady Side Academy fell to No. 2 Mt. Lebanon, 10-8, in the finals of the 2023 WPIAL 3A Boys Lacrosse Championship, played at Robert Morris University's Joe Walton Stadium on Thursday, May 25.

Emmerich Braham, Mac Mohn and Seamus Riordan each scored two goals for SSA in the loss. The Bulldogs led 7-4 in the third quarter but were unable to hold off a late rally by the Blue Devils, who scored six of the game's last seven goals. The game was an exciting rematch of the 2022 finals, which SSA won in overtime.

As the WPIAL runner-up, Shady Side has earned a spot in the 2023 PIAA Boys Lacrosse Championship. The Bulldogs (9-12) will face District 3 champion Manheim Township (18-0) in the PIAA first round on Tuesday, June 6, at 4 p.m. at Manheim Township HS in Lancaster, Pa. Buy tickets online or watch the game livestream at www.youtube.com/manheimtownship.

Congratulations to Head Coach Cam Thompson and the team on a great effort and good luck in the state playoffs!
