In a back-and-forth game between section rivals, Shady Side Academy fell to South Allegheny, 68-59, in double overtime in the second round of the PIAA Class 3A Boys Basketball Championship on Saturday, March 12, at North Allegheny Senior High School.
Shady Side went on a 19-0 run in the second and third quarters and led by 17 with 7:14 to go before South Allegheny stormed back to force overtime and pulled ahead for good in the second OT. Sophomore Eli Teslovich scored a team-high 19 points for the Bulldogs, while junior Ethan Salvia added 12 and sophomore Peter Kramer had 10
Shady Side closes out its historic season with a 20-7 overall record and a WPIAL title – the program's second overall and its first in Class 3A. The 1999 team won the program's first WPIAL title in Class 2A.
