Western PA Conservancy Visits Eighth Grade Science Classes

On Sept. 25 and 26, Western Pennsylvania Conservancy Science Director Ephraim Zimmerman and Ecologists Brian Crooks and Jessica McPherson visited John Matia's eighth grade environmental science classes at Shady Side Academy Middle School.

The students were taught about the role invasive species are playing in reshaping the local ecosystems and the importance of maintaining our native species. After spending some time in the lab looking at some representative invasive species, the eighth graders were given an opportunity to observe and identify invasive species on the Middle School campus.
