Michael DiMarsico, Coach Cam Thompson, Jack Naughton

Two Shady Side Academy seniors signed National Letters of Intent (NLIs) committing to play NCAA Division I men's lacrosse in college on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019. Michael DiMarsico signed a letter committing to Johns Hopkins University, while Jack Naughton signed with the College of the Holy Cross.

DiMarsico and Naughton helped the SSA boys' lacrosse team reach the WPIAL Class 3A semifinals last spring. DiMarsico has started in goal for SSA since his sophomore year and had a 5.2 goals against average as a junior. He earned WPIAL all-section honors in 2018 and 2019 and all-MSCLA honors in 2018. He also plays for the SSA boys' prep ice hockey team. Naughton, a versatile midfielder, has started for SSA since his freshman year. He was a team co-captain as a junior and will captain the team again this year. He also plays for the SSA boys' soccer team. Both DiMarsico and Naughton play for The Duke's Lacrosse Club in Philadelphia in the summer.

The signing ceremony was held in the SSA Senior School's College Counseling Office. The signees were joined by Head Boys Lacrosse Coach Cam Thompson, their college counselors, teachers, teammates, family and friends.

The NCAA's National Letter of Intent (NLI) is a binding agreement between a prospective student-athlete and an NLI member institution. By signing an NLI, the student-athlete agrees to attend the institution full-time for one academic year, while the institution agrees to provide athletics financial aid for one academic year.
