Shady Side Academy Middle School student musicians Abril Linares Mendoza (trumpet), Adien Aggarwal (tenor saxophone) and Cassidy Mineo (alto saxophone) were selected to perform at the 2019 PMEA District 1 East Junior High Band Festival, which was held Feb. 15-16, at Yough Intermediate Middle School in Ruffs Dale, Pa.

The band, made up of students from Allegheny, Westmoreland and Fayette Counties, was led by Chris Marra, director of instrumental activities at Seton Hill University.

PMEA is a statewide nonprofit organization of more than 5,000 members, dedicated to promoting the musical development of all Pennsylvanians. The organization promotes and supports quality music education, learning and performance as well as promoting and supporting music education in schools and communities.
