The SSA Striders team that participated in the 2018 Walk for Children's was recently honored with the Youth Fundraiser Award from the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation. The award, which honors generous fundraisers age 18 and younger, was given in recognition of the team's outstanding effort to raise nearly $25,000 for the 2018 Walk for Children's in support of sick kids and their families.Six student members of the team's 2018 Young Leadership Committee attended the foundation's Corporate and Community Giving Recognition Dinner on May 8 at Rodef Shalom to receive the award: alumnus Clayton Guyaux '18, juniors Avery Guyaux and Andrew Meyers, freshman Kira Meyers, sixth grader Reese Ruttenberg and third grader Brooklyn Ruttenberg. Other student members of the committee not in attendance were seniors Johnny Andreos, Paige Golden and Sophia McMahon, freshman Jack Hathaway, eighth graders Elle Ruttenberg, Charles Stafford, Sophia Stafford and Dani Strauss, and sixth graders Elsa Blodgett and Abigail Hathaway.
"We could not be more grateful for the success SSA Striders achieved last year and the example they set, which I hope others will be inspired to follow," said Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation President Rachel Petrucelli.
The SSA Striders team will again participate in the 2019 Walk for Children's on Saturday, June 1, at Schenley Park. Members of the SSA community are invited to register to walk with the team or support the team if they cannot walk. Join or support the 2019 SSA Striders here. Dress-down days are being held on all four SSA campuses this week to raise funds for the 2019 team as well.
Congratulations to the SSA Striders on their efforts and good luck in the 2019 event!
