Four members of the Shady Side Academy varsity crew team won eight medals at the Head of the Ohio (HOTO) Regatta, held Oct. 7-8 on the Allegheny River in Pittsburgh. The SSA rowers were competing as part of the Steel City Rowing Club (SCRC) together with rowers from other area high schools.

Senior Michael DeGregoio and his SCRC teammate won gold by placing first in the Men's Youth 2x. Seniors Jacob Hopeman, DeGregorio and Sydney Cleveland-Datesman (coxswain)'s boat placed second in the Men's Youth 4+. Hopeman also finished second in the Men's Youth 1x. Senior Leila Skinner's boat placed second in the Women's Youth 2x, while Cleveland-Datesman and Skinner's boat placed third in the Women's Youth Lightweight 4+.
