SSA Offers Spring Training Baseball Clinic for Kids

Shady Side Academy is offering a spring training baseball clinic designed to teach young players the fundamentals and techniques of the game. All players will learn and practice proper techniques for throwing, catching, fielding, hitting and base running.

The clinic is open to kids ages 6-13 of all skill levels and will be held at the SSA Senior School Campus, 423 Fox Chapel Road, Fox Chapel. It includes four sessions:

  • Friday, Feb. 28: 6-8 p.m.
  • Saturday, Feb. 29: 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • Friday, March 6: 6-8 p.m.
  • Saturday, March 7: 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

The clinic will be led by two former Major League Baseball players, SSA Head Varsity Baseball Coach Jordan Steranka and Varsity Pitching Coach Chris Peters, as well as other SSA assistant coaches and select varsity players.

Each child will receive individualized attention and participate in a typical practice led by the coaches. Participants are asked to bring a bat, glove, helmet, baseball pants, cleats and tennis shoes.

Sessions will be held outside on the SSA baseball field and inside Curry Gymnasium. In the event of inclement weather, complete sessions will be held in the gym.

Cost is $125 for all four sessions. Space is limited to ensure maximum individualized attention.
