Senior School Students Lead Middle School Discussion on Cultural Appropriation

Eliyah Roberts and Charlotte McDanielSenior School students Charlotte McDaniel, a junior, and Eliyah Roberts, a senior, visited the Middle School on Wednesday, Feb. 13, to lead a discussion on cultural appropriation in honor of Black History Month.

McDaniel led a discussion about the history of black hairstyles and showed the Oscar-winning short film Hair Love. Roberts led a discussion about language and racial slurs. They both encouraged students to know history, give credit, and use correct terminology to avoid appropriating a culture, but rather appreciating that culture.

Thank you, Charlotte and Eliyah!
