Senior School Presents Digital Theater Festival, March 5-7

Digital Theater Festival graphicShady Side Academy Senior School will present the Digital Theater Festival as its winter student drama production on March 5-7, 2021.

Three different prerecorded video performances will premiere online on Friday, March 5, at 7:30 p.m., Saturday March 6 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, March 7, at 2 p.m.

Access to the videos is free, but online donations will be accepted to offset production costs for the spring musical. The video and donation links will be available soon at

The Digital Theater Festival features three original student-written plays, one each night, sandwiched between student-performed monologues, spoken word poetry, scenes, duets, soloists and even a tap dance! WARNING: Some content may not be suitable for children under 13.

On Friday night, the original play Battery, written by senior Katie Sparvero, stars the sibling duo of senior Jake Rohr and sophomore Ben Rohr.

On Saturday night, Pride Month, written by junior Braden Crow, stars the playwright as well as seniors Annabel Everett and Nathan Jyachosky, juniors Ava Kronman, Gloria Mancilla-Balog and Noah Delisma, and freshman Kayla Zhu.

On Sunday afternoon, The Great American Laureate, written by junior Gigi Horgan, stars seniors Annabel Everett and Nathan Jyachosky, and juniors Braden Crow, Noah Delisma, Riley Doyle and Sydney Demchak.

Some other student performers include seniors Charlotte McDaniel and Alexander Biglan, junior Aasia Gabbour, and sophomore Karina Saba.

Faculty member Dana Hardy-Bingham is the producer/director, and staff member Austin Davidheiser is the technical director. Senior Hannah Romoff and junior Gigi Horgan are the stage manager and assistant stage manager, respectively. Staff member James Knox is the cinematographer and editor, along with two student assistants, juniors Andy Marous and Lochlan McGinnis. LisaAnn Goldsmith and Robert Fire are the vocal directors, and Bob Neumeyer provides musical accompaniment.

Note: The school's annual winter musical has been moved to the spring term this school year.
