Senior Named to Roundball Classic All-Star Basketball Game

Ariana GoitzShady Side Academy senior Ariana Goitz has been selected to play in the prestigious 2019 Roundball Classic All-Star Games, which feature the top senior basketball players in Western Pennsylvania.

The top boys and girls players from each classification in the WPIAL and City League will play in a series of all-star games on Friday, April 12, and Saturday, April 13, at Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pa. Goitz will play for the Girls Class 3A/2A team against the Girls Class 6A/A team in the 2 p.m. game on Saturday. The weekend also includes a recognition dinner for players and their families on Thursday evening.

Being selected for the Roundball Classic is a distinctive honor. The committee only considers Western Pennsylvania players who have been selected for all-section teams and/or represented their school/community in exemplary fashion, both academically and athletically.

Goitz helped the SSA girls basketball team to a 20-5 overall record in 2018-2019, including the program's first appearance in the WPIAL finals. SSA finished as the WPIAL Class 2A runner-up and advanced as far as the second round of the PIAA state tournament.

Congratulations, Ariana!
