Eliyah Roberts, a 2020 graduate of Shady Side Academy, was one of 32 area high school student-athletes who were honored as the 2020 Western Pennsylvania Positive Athlete Awards. One student-athlete was honored from each sport, and Roberts was the winner for girls track & field. The 2020 winners were announced July 6 via YouTube video.

Since its inception, Positive Athlete has awarded over $400,000 in college scholarships to high school student-athletes based more on their character than their athletic performance. High school student-athletes can be nominated by parents, coaches, teachers, administrators or fans. Positive Athlete looks for athletes who have overcome difficult circumstances, given back to their schools and communities, or just have an infectious positive attitude.
