On Saturday, Nov. 11, the Shady Side Academy girls' and boys' soccer teams both competed in the PIAA quarterfinals.
The SSA girls' team defeated Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic, 3-1 at Moon in the PIAA Class A quarterfinals. Juniors Krystyna Rytel and Sophia McMahon and sophomore Callie Davis scored in the win, sending the team to the state semifinals for the second year in a row. Shady Side (14-4-0) will face Greensburg Central Catholic on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. at Hampton High School, in a rematch of the WPIAL championship match (which GCC won, 1-0). Good luck to Head Coach Leah Powers and the team on the playoff road to Hershey!
The SSA boys' team fell to Oley Valley, 1-0, in the PIAA Class AA quarterfinals at Chambersburg Area High School. Shady Side finishes the 2017 season with a 14-8-1 overall record and the program's first-ever WPIAL title. Congratulations to Head Coach Ed Ellsworth and the boys' team on an amazing season!
