Dr. Deborah GilboaShady Side Academy will offer the free parent education program "The Expectation Gap," presented by Dr. Deborah Gilboa, on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Hillman Center for Performing Arts on the SSA Senior School campus, 423 Fox Chapel Road, Fox Chapel. What are we as a society doing to invigorate – or poison – our youth? Closing the expectation gap between what adults believe kids and teens are capable of, and what they can actually accomplish allows them to create their own solutions to the world's biggest challenges. Based on her work with families worldwide, Dr. Gilboa's expertise focuses on strategies for adults to safely step back, so youth can step up. The practicalities of doing that, and the guiding principles that will make it possible, allow adults to ensure, as well as assure, a better future for and from their children.
