Middle School Science Olympiad Team Places Fifth at West Liberty-Salem Invitational

MS Science OlympiadOn March 4, the Shady Side Academy Middle School Science Olympiad team finished fifth out of 33 teams at the West Liberty-Salem Invitational in Salem, Ohio.

The following SSA Middle School students were recognized for their achievements:

  • Ishika Arora: 1st for Meteorology, 2nd for Fast Facts, 9th for Scrambler
  • Charlie Brunner: 1st for Meteorology, 9th for Bottle Rockets
  • Stephanie Chen: 2nd for Fast Facts, 9th for Scrambler

  • Prayag Vemulapalli: 3rd for Anatomy
  • Parker Maivald: 5th for Hovercraft, 7th for Invasive Species
  • Jason Vasco: 5th for Hovercraft, 9th for Experimental Design, 10th for Ecology
  • Arjun Patel: 7th for Disease Detectives, 10th for Ecology
  • Giri Viswanathan: 7th for Disease Detectives, 9th for Experimental Design, 9th for Microbe Mission
  • Miyu Yamane: 7th for Invasive Species, 8th for Wright Stuff, 10th for Optics
  • Anya Hammer: 8th for Wright Stuff
  • Rishi Bahri: 9th for Bottle Rockets, 9th for Experimental Design
  • Nick Zana: 9th for Microbe Mission
  • Nora Navid: 10th for Optics

Science Olympiad is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of K-12 science education, increasing male, female and minority interest in science, creating a technologically-literate workforce and providing recognition for outstanding achievement by both students and teachers.
