Middle School Collects Breakfast Items for Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank

MS community service committee with food drive itemsShady Side Academy Middle School students, families, faculty and staff collected three large crates full of breakfast food items during a food drive from Jan. 31 through Feb. 14 to benefit the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. Donations included healthy whole grain cereals, oatmeal and other hot cereals, peanut butter, canned fruits packed in juice, nuts, hot chocolate, tea, coffee, pancake mix, waffle mix and muffin mix.

The drive served as part of the school's yearlong "House" competition, where the whole Middle School is divided into House teams that compete for points in various ways. The Red and Yellow Houses tied for the most contributions to the food drive and earned points towards their year-end total.

Congratulations to the students and their teachers for their amazing efforts and thanks to the SSA families who donated to the drive for their kindness!
