Junior Selected to PMEA District 1 East Band Festival

Shady Side Academy junior Hyelim "Rose" Lee was selected to play the flute at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 1 East Honors Band Festival, which was held Jan. 23-25, 2019, at Burrell High School in Lower Burrell, Pa. The festival is the first step toward the All-State competition.

Lee, who is the No. 1 flute player in the Senior School Symphonic Band, earned a spot in the festival after a strong performance at the District 1 Honors Band auditions.

PMEA is a statewide nonprofit organization of more than 5,000 members, dedicated to promoting the musical development of all Pennsylvanians. The organization promotes and supports quality music education, learning and performance as well as promoting and supporting music education in schools and communities.
