Shady Side Academy junior Elle Santora competed in the 2018 WPIAL Class AAA Girls Singles Tournament on Sept. 20 at North Allegheny. Santora defeated Chartiers Valley's Kara Joseph in the first round, 10-6, but fell to North Allegheny's Ashley Huang, 10-3 in the quarterfinals.

Santora qualified for the WPIAL tournament by placing third in the section 3-AAA tournament on Sept. 12-13. Also competing in the section tournament for SSA but not advancing to WPIALs was senior Aya Youssef, who advanced to the section quarterfinals before falling to Kristen Friday of Fox Chapel.
