Junior and Middle School Robotics Teams Compete at Shady Side Open

On Saturday, Nov. 16, the Shady Side Academy Junior and Middle School robotics teams competed against 34 teams at the Shady Side Open, a FIRST LEGO League (FLL) competitive robotics scrimmage hosted annually at Shady Side Academy Middle School.

The Junior School team earned the Elementary Robotic Excellence Award for having the highest score among the elementary school teams.

The Shady Side Open is one of several competitive scrimmages around the region to prepare teams for the Western Pennsylvania FIRST LEGO League Grand Championship. The Middle School robotics team is coached by science teacher Matt Brunner, while the Junior School robotics team is coached by science teacher Jeff McCarroll.
