Junior Accepted to Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra

Shady Side Academy junior Hector Lampert-Bates, a talented violinist, was recently accepted as a member of the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra (PYSO) for 2020-2021 after competitive auditions earlier this year. Lampert-Bates joins senior violinist Nora Navid, who was accepted to the PYSO as a freshman.

Lampert-Bates is a member of the SSA Senior School String Orchestra, which is under the direction of music teacher Dr. Dan Brill.

The PYSO is one of the oldest and most advanced youth orchestras in the country. It is comprised of 90-100 musicians ages 14-20 and utilizes conductors and coaches from the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. The PYSO performs several concerts each year at Heinz Hall and other venues around Pittsburgh, and is broadcast regularly on WQED-FM radio. Learn more about the PYSO.

Congratulations, Hector!
