Improvement & History Prizes Awarded at Senior School Assembly
Cayden Leavy, Zoe Conomikes, and Eliseo Salazar were awarded the 2017-18 John H. Cohen Family Award.

Two different academic prizes for the 2017-2018 school year were awarded to four students at Shady Side Academy Senior School community assembly on Friday, Sept. 7, 2018.

The John H. Cohen Family Award is a book prize given for general improvement in scholarship, vigor, citizenship and character to a member of the third, fourth and fifth forms. The 2017-2018 recipients were current sophomore Cayden Leavy, junior Zoe Conomikes and senior Eliseo Salazar.

Hank Lin was awarded the 2017-18 Instructor's Prize in American History.

The Instructor's Prize in American History is a book prize is awarded to the student who, while enrolled in the U.S. History course, has completed the research paper that best displays the qualities of scholarship essential for developing competence in the study of history. The 2017-2018 winner was current senior Hank Lin. Lin for his paper, The C.I.A. and the United States Cold War Diplomacy: Shaping the Success of Abstract Expressionism.
