Hillman Series Presents Playing By Air March 11

Playing By AirThe Hillman Performing Arts Series at Shady Side Academy presents a symphony of action, comedy, music, juggling and circus when Playing By Air takes the stage on Saturday, March 11, at 7:30 p.m. The performance will be held at the Hillman Center for Performing Arts, located on the SSA Senior School campus, 423 Fox Chapel Road, Fox Chapel.

Described as "a gift of laughter and joy," Playing By Air's award-winning performers share a sense of playfulness and breathtaking feats in a comedy that juggles, balances and literally flips music on its head. Featuring an electrifying display of lights, color and motion, engaging characters, and musical instruments that fly through the air, this versatile show has drawn rave reviews from audiences who leave the theater with their imaginations buzzing after the nonstop spectacle of creativity and original inventions. One of the members of Playing By Air, Michael Karas, is originally from Pittsburgh.

As part of its visit to Pittsburgh, Playing By Air will host a free outreach performance for patients and families at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC on Friday, March 10, at 2 p.m. in the hospital's 6th floor atrium. Playing By Air is an official partner of Creativity Moves Kids, a national touring program providing free workshops and shows for children's hospitals, nonprofits and schools.

Playing By Air is the fifth of six shows in the 2016-2017 Hillman Performing Arts Series; the final show of the season will be The StepCrew on April 8, featuring step dancing and Celtic musicians.
